When a couple has a new baby, they must realign themselves to take on the role of parents. This could be a very confusing and exhausting time for them. Alta assists young parents to overcome the initial challenges of parenthood, thus settling them into their new role with greater ease.
During the primary school years, parents continue to be involved and focused on their children, driving children to dance class, art class and soccer practice. Alta assists families in this phase of their life to find balance, thus keeping the family bond strong.
During the adolescent years, parents are still focused on their children and a whole host of new issues may arise. The risk during this phase is that the family structure becomes extremely vulnerable and may be the phase where a couple loses the ''couple" part of their relationship which may create a situation where the couple in the marriage is grossly neglected. During this phase the family may also be strained as the teenagers begin to define themselves and struggle with one identity crisis after another. There is plenty that can be done during this phase to restore balance in the family if they decide to sign up for Family Development and Restoration Counselling.

During Family Development and Restoration Counselling, Alta works with the family as a whole and encourages the family to look at and define the rules, rituals, roles and structure the family chooses to uphold. Together they create an action plan to accommodate all the members of the family and one that makes family life a win-win situation for all.
